Approved!!!

We received such an exciting email recently from our social worker. Our dossier has been approved! Colombia says we can adopt!

I received the news while at work and was able to quickly send a text to Andre confirming he also saw our news as well. Then I found all my closest coworkers and shared some happy tears, hugs, and jumping.

This update means our next step is to be matched with a child. Our files have been sent to the region where the little girl we are hoping to be matched with is living. They estimate two to three weeks to receive an official match (which we then multiply the time frame to protect ourselves from heartbreak), and then we are expecting a travel date for sometime in the beginning of the year!

Things are definitely starting to feel real. Friends have started asking if we feel like parents yet, and the answer is no way! I don’t think the reality of everything will sink in until we’re face to face, or maybe even until we’re home with some sort of rhythm. Even though we may not feel like parents at this point, we know that the thing we have been preparing for over a year and a half is becoming a reality.
